Abe Rábade & Eivissa Jazz Experience

The Eivissa Jazz Experience is a special ensemble curated annually by Galician pianist Abe Rábade, bringing together musicians who have previously taken part in the Eivissa Jazz Festival. The project is conceived as an ephemeral collective creation, where each performer contributes an original composition and the group meets only for a single rehearsal on the eve of the concert.

The result is a unique and unrepeatable performance presented live at the Baluard de Santa Llúcia, where improvisation and the adaptability inherent to jazz become the driving force of the music. Each edition of the Experience generates spontaneous and fleeting moments, shaped by the immediate interaction between musicians from diverse backgrounds united by the spirit of the festival.

Jive at Nine

Jive at Nine is a regular ensemble within the music scene of the Balearic Islands, dedicated to jazz standards, swing, and classic repertoire, presented in an elegant and accessible format. The project is characterized by a faithful approach to the jazz tradition, combined with a lively stage presence designed to engage diverse audiences.

The band is led by trombonist Vicent Tur, an active and well-respected figure in the local jazz scene, who provides artistic direction and stylistic coherence to the project.

The name of the group references the well-known jazz standard “Jive at Five”, composed by Count Basie and Harry Edison, reimagined here as a playful twist that reflects the fun and festive spirit of swing music.

For its appearance at Eivissa Jazz, the ensemble will feature a special collaboration with Swingin’ Tonic, a project led by guitarist Iván Pacheco and vocalist Claudia Ottelli. Their participation will bring the elegance and vintage aesthetic that define the group, further enhancing the festive and evocative character of the programme.

Sinéad Cormican

SANG is the first original songwriting project by Mallorcan singer and violinist Sinéad Cormican. In this work, she creates a distinctive musical universe where her diverse cultural and musical roots converge, shaping a personal repertoire that blends the language of jazz with Mallorcan, Irish, and Andalusian influences. The result is a delicate and evocative artistic statement, defined by melodic sensitivity and a strong sense of identity.

Born in Palma to an Irish father and a mother from Cádiz, Sinéad Cormican trained in both classical violin and jazz vocals, developing a musical path that embraces a wide range of traditions and styles. SANG was recorded live as part of the “Emergeix!” initiative of the A Jazz de Mar Festival in Portocolom, featuring Tomeu Garcias, Toni Vaquer, Joan Garcias, and Andreu Pitarch. Together, they bring to life a collection of compositions that explore memory, heritage, and identity through a contemporary and deeply personal perspective.

Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa

The Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa is a permanent ensemble of the Patronat Municipal de Música d’Eivissa, an institution under the City Council of Ibiza. It is a jazz orchestra format made up of 17 musicians, representing one of the largest and most emblematic formations within the jazz tradition. Historically, big bands have served as training grounds for young musicians, combining learning, stage experience, and collaboration with professional performers and established artists.

Since 2016, the Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa has been a regular presence at the Eivissa Jazz Festival, presenting themed concerts dedicated to major figures and styles in jazz and modern music. In this edition, the second night on September 2 will feature their concert, in which the ensemble will perform a gospel repertoire featuring vocalists Jordi Sanou, Matteo Crocetti, Miss Arantzatzu, Lauren, Reya Thomas, and Claudia Bardagí.

Over recent editions, the group has presented diverse programmes including tributes to Count Basie (2016), Benny Goodman featuring clarinetist Arturo Pueyo (2017), Frank Sinatra with vocalist Jordi Cardona (2018 and 2023), Latin jazz (2019), musical theatre repertoire (2020), Duke Ellington (2021), traditional Ibizan music arranged by Vicent Tur with guest conductor Sergi Vergés (2022), and a flamenco fusion edition (2025). This trajectory consolidates the Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa as a versatile, educational, and deeply rooted ensemble within the island’s musical life.

Ibossim Flamenco Ibiza

Ibossim Flamenco Ibiza is a flamenco ensemble with a distinctive identity that blends Andalusian Gypsy tradition with the contemporary energy of Ibiza. Rooted in the rich flamenco culture of Granada and Andalusia, the group has developed a powerful artistic proposal that has captivated international audiences on stages around the world.

With a career marked by performances at exclusive events and international tours, the project has brought its flamenco to major European cities as well as destinations such as Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia. Their music merges the strength of traditional flamenco with contemporary influences, creating a unique, intense, and deeply emotional atmosphere.

The ensemble features vocalist Noemí Escudero, known for her powerful voice and deep connection to the cante; percussionist Pedro García, a specialist in blending flamenco with other genres; guitarist Luis González “El Coco,” a virtuoso with Granadan roots who bridges tradition and modernity; and dancer Lidia Escudero, trained in Gypsy tradition and known for her striking stage presence. Together, they deliver a performance that unites heritage and innovation with a unmistakable artistic identity.

Antoni Marí Sextet

Antoni Marí Sextet is a group of six young musicians who revisit the legacy of 1960s modern jazz through a contemporary lens. Inspired by the aesthetics of post-bop and by historic ensembles such as Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, the band combines a deep respect for tradition with a clear commitment to developing its own artistic voice. Their carefully crafted arrangements offer a fresh perspective on the music of essential composers such as Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson.

The ensemble features Antoni I. Marí (guitar), Pere Sancho (tenor saxophone), Gil Boleda (trombone), Jana Gallifa (piano), Ot Granados (double bass), and Rubén Bueno (drums), under the artistic mentorship of saxophonist Santi De la Rubia. Their music stands out for its balance between the creative energy of a new generation and a profound understanding of the jazz tradition, resulting in a fresh, cohesive sound with a distinctive identity that bridges the finest elements of 1960s jazz with a contemporary sensibility.

L.A.B. Trio

L.A.B Trio is an international jazz fusion ensemble based in Berlin, bringing together musicians from different European musical scenes. Founded in 2024 at the Jazz Institute Berlin, the trio blends the diverse backgrounds of its members into an original artistic voice, combining the jazz tradition with contemporary sounds, fusion elements, evocative soundscapes, and influences from classical music.

Improvisation lies at the core of their music, shaping both individual expression and collective interaction. Awarded Best Newcomer Ensemble at the 2025 Getxo Jazz Festival, they have performed at some of Berlin’s leading jazz venues. Beyond their musical work, L.A.B Trio also serves as a platform for queer visibility in jazz, embracing diversity and artistic freedom as essential elements of their identity and creative expression.

Michael Pipoquinha Quartet

Michael Pipoquinha is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding bass players of his generation and one of the most innovative voices in contemporary Brazilian music. Born in Limoeiro do Norte and now based in São Paulo, he began his professional career at the age of eleven and has since shared the stage with renowned artists such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Hamilton de Holanda, and Ivan Lins. His virtuosity, musical sensitivity, and expressive playing have earned him international recognition, including praise from musicians such as Victor Wooten and Stanley Clarke.

His discography reflects a constantly evolving artistic journey, culminating in works such as Um Novo Tom (2023), an album that blends influences from modern jazz, soul, groove, and world music. Alongside his work as an instrumentalist, Pipoquinha is now embarking on a new creative chapter that embraces songwriting and his debut as a vocalist. This new project expands the boundaries of his musical universe and further establishes a distinctive artistic voice within the contemporary jazz landscape.

The Illusions & Nathan Haines

The Illusions is a contemporary band based in Ibiza and led by musicians Franco Botto and Pere Navarro, two prominent figures of the island’s new generation of creative artists. Their music blends energetic rhythms, electronic textures, and diverse influences that move between jazz, groove, and contemporary sounds. With a distinctive musical language and a strong exploratory spirit, the group creates soundscapes that connect improvisation with modern production techniques.

Following the release of their album Find Your Way, featuring tracks such as The Stream, Float, and Slow It Down, the band continues to expand its artistic horizons through high-profile international collaborations. On this occasion, they are joined by New Zealand saxophonist, producer, and vocalist Nathan Haines, a leading figure in contemporary jazz and the international acid jazz scene. The collaboration between The Illusions and Haines results in a vibrant and forward-looking project where experience, creativity, and a contemporary vision of jazz and modern music come together.

Tonina is a bassist, composer, and singer whose music effortlessly bridges jazz, Latin traditions, classical influences, and rhythms rooted in African heritage. Born in San Diego and raised in St. Louis, her artistic voice reflects a rich cultural background that shapes a deeply personal and distinctive musical language. Her sensitivity as a performer and her ability to unite melody, rhythm, and emotion make each performance a compelling and memorable experience.

As a vocalist, Tonina stands out for her unique voice and remarkable emotional depth, qualities that place her within the lineage of great jazz storytellers. At the same time, her mastery of the double bass has established her as one of the most promising artists of her generation, drawing comparisons to musicians such as Esperanza Spalding. With an artistic vision that transcends stylistic boundaries, Tonina embodies a contemporary approach to music in which cultures, traditions, and influences meet in a vibrant and original form of expression.
